傳播美好設計

KAAN Architecten受美國戰役紀念碑委員會(huì )委托，為荷蘭境內唯一的美國公墓設計一座游客中心。該建筑遵循地景，貼合場(chǎng)地的紀念氛圍，與巨大、肅穆的紀念碑相得益彰。

荷蘭美軍公墓（NEAC）坐落在馬斯特里赫特附近的林堡赫弗蘭丘陵中，是美國戰役紀念碑委員會(huì )（ABMC）管理的 26 座公墓之一。盡管隨著(zhù)時(shí)間的流逝，哀思會(huì )消退，但我們仍然需要加強對第二次世界大戰持久深刻影響的認知。在國際沖突和不確定性持續增加的當今世界，游客中心提供了一個(gè)重要的途徑，去紀念埋葬在此的人們，并了解促成歐洲解放的動(dòng)力。這種干預并沒(méi)有減損紀念場(chǎng)所的特性，而是通過(guò)建筑手段襯托墓地景觀(guān)，帶來(lái)風(fēng)格與莊重感。

馬赫拉滕荷蘭美軍公墓（NEAC）最初由美國景觀(guān)建筑師Michael Rapuano、雕塑家Joseph Kiselewski、建筑事務(wù)Coolidge, Sheply, Bulfinch and Abbott與馬斯特里赫特本地建筑師Alphons Boosten合作設計。KAAN Architecten事務(wù)所選擇將新建筑與紀念碑建筑群保持適當的距離，以維持原址規劃，并保存寧靜的氛圍。Karres en Brands景觀(guān)設計與城市規劃公司的設計幫助將建筑與景觀(guān)融為一體。

在委托建造游客中心時(shí)，ABMC還要求新建筑融入為紀念場(chǎng)地的一部分，與包括景觀(guān)墓地及榮譽(yù)法庭在內的整個(gè)建筑群相呼應。游客中心的入口廣場(chǎng)由一排排石質(zhì)座椅界定，在精心編排的場(chǎng)地中營(yíng)造自己空間的同時(shí)，又與更大的整體和諧地融為一體。

廣場(chǎng)和道路嵌入景觀(guān)之中，并緩緩向下傾斜。緩下坡將游客引向游客中心的精美層壓混凝土雨篷之中。從遠處看，這種混凝土檐板似乎漂浮在地面之上，仿佛自身的體量并不存在。在內側，透光縫隙和圓形倒角強化了空間感。

The plaza and pathway are recessed into the landscape and slope gently downward. The slow descent leads the visitor down to the protective canopy of the Visitor Center, which is made of aesthetic layered concrete. Seen from a distance, this concrete fascia appears to float above the ground, denying a sense of scale. Inside, light slits and rounded corners enhance the perception of spaciousness.

建筑棲居于檐板的框架內，下沉到傾斜的地形中，室內地坪低于地面。玻璃幕墻提供了獨特的全景視角，游客可以從較低的視角靜靜欣賞周?chē)牡湫偷孛埠蜕⒉嫉臉?shù)木。

在建筑的中心，墻壁形成一個(gè)12 x 12米的正方形，支撐著(zhù)檐版的重量。正方形內是一個(gè)禮堂，表皮由溫暖的美國胡桃木鑲板包覆，設有服務(wù)區和衛生間，正方形的外墻則提供了展覽空間。展覽呈現了真實(shí)的歷史物件和個(gè)人故事，展示了戰爭的現實(shí)和犧牲，鼓勵人們反思過(guò)去，并強調了獨立建設穩定與和平未來(lái)的重要性。

At the centre of the structure, the walls form a 12 x 12 m square that supports the weight of the fascia. Inside this square is an auditorium, clad in panelling of warm American walnut, as well as service areas and restrooms, while the exterior walls of the square provide exhibition space. Featuring original artefacts and personal stories, the exhibition presents the reality and sacrifice of war, encourages reflection on the lessons of the past and emphasizes the importance of working towards a stable and peaceful future.

游客中心別具一格又充滿(mǎn)親和力，是一次對荷蘭美軍公墓的建筑強化，它為游客提供了一個(gè)特殊場(chǎng)地，讓游客得以在周?chē)鷮庫o的景觀(guān)中學(xué)習、沉思。
